Grab your bathing suit because Charleston Water Week is just around the corner! From September 5th to 13th, Charleston will be home to a bunch of exciting water events held across 21 different venues. 

All of these activities will surely make you hungry and thirsty. It’s August and the Dog Days of Summer are amongst us! This month’s warm weather makes it ideal to celebrate Campfire Day (1st), National Watermelon Day (3rd), National Creamsicle Day (14th), Dog Appreciation Day (26th) and many more fun August holidays, which can be found here. Many facilities have now reopened and activities have resumed in the Charleston, SC area. This has been accompanied by an increase in the number of live events scheduled for the month of July, compared to recent months.

However, as the number of positive COVID-19 cases has continued to rise locally, several scheduled events have been cancelled or postponed. As for celebrating July 4th this year, the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has just issued a press release that recommends doing so safely at home.

May is the last month of Spring and the month in which we celebrate Cinco de Mayo (5th), Mother's Day (10th), Armed Forces Day (16th) and Memorial Day (25th) as well as many other fun and sometimes wacky holidays (click here and here for more).  As we navigate these dynamic and unusual times brought upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic, many Charleston area events and activities that had been scheduled for May have been cancelled or postponed.  Thanks to many creative minds, a slew of virtual events and activity suggestions have taken their place.  And now, with the gradual easing of some protective restrictions on access, mobility and operations, we are also beginning to see some "in perso...

Spring is finally here and we could not be happier about the pleasant weather, longer days and colorful blooms that it brings! We also have Easter, Passover and Earth Day to look forward to later this month! The COVID-19 pandemic that we are in the midst of has certainly created a very different and uncertain time for us.

However, respecting the social distancing guidelines, stay at home ordinances, and closure of non-essential businesses orders does not mean we have to stop enjoying ourselves. February sure did come around fast and there are tons of exciting and fun activities to see and do this month, including SEWE - the Southeastern Wildlife Expo, various concerts and performances, and some more oyster roasts! Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 3rd so don't forget to turn your clocks back an hour. If it helps, think "Spring Forward, Fall Back". Veterans Day is on the 11th and Thanksgiving will be celebrated later in the month on the 28th! There are tons of fun annual events happening this month including Beer Week, Water Week, Park Circle Oktoberfest, and Chucktown Showdown as well as many concerts to go and see! June has arrived and so has the scorching heat! As a matter of fact, we hit the 100s in late May so get ready for a hot summer! The Spoleto Festival USA is now in full swing and you still have time to see some of the amazing and beautiful pieces. Father's Day is mid-month (16th) so don't forget to treat dad to a day of golf and celebrate him! There are tons of events going on this month, including many to help escape the heat.  Be sure to check them out!

May is here and the weather is spectacular for the world-renowned and 43rd annual Spoleto Festival USA and Piccolo Spoleto Festival (its sister arts festival with local and regional artists), both taking place across Charleston from May 24th through June 9th. Other annual events celebrated this month include the Kentucky Derby (4th), Cinco de Mayo (5th), Mothers Day (12th), Memorial Day (27th) & area school graduations ... as well as birthday celebrations for hometown celebrities Darius Rucker and Stephen Colbert, both born on May 13th ... and so much more!

Spring is here and there are lots of outdoor events and activities this April. The week-long Volvo Car Open tennis tournament on Daniel Island kicks off the month and concludes on the same weekend as the Cooper River Bridge Run and Summerville's Flowertime Festival.  The month wraps up with Mt. Pleasant's 32nd Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival.  In between, there are a host of other exhibits, expos, fairs, festivals, galas, performances, shows, sporting events, and tournaments both inside and out, not to mention Easter, Passover and Earth Day services and celebrations.  So get out there and have some fun!
