Only 13 states saw the percentage of people moving in last year higher than those moving out.

South Carolina was in the former group.

A new study shows the Palmetto State ranked No. 2 in the nation last year for in-bound moves.

The state saw nearly 42 percent more people moving in than moving out, ranking second to Arkansas with almost 44 percent more relocating to the land of Little Rock and the Ozarks, according to a study of 90,000 moves last year by hireahelper.com.

Mount Pleasant and Myrtle Beach picked up the most relocations percentage-wise of people moving in than out in South Carolina, 71.4 percent and 63.8 percent, respectfully, and both ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Joining the club of those with the most inbound moves were Maine, Delaware, Idaho, Tennessee, Florida, New Mexico, Alabama, Utah, Oklahoma, New Hampshire and Nevada.

On the other end of the scale was New Jersey, which saw almost 53.5 percent more people leaving than coming. California was a close second at nearly 50 percent. West Virginia, Illinois and Maryland also saw at least 40 percent more people saying goodbye than hello.
