Good News in Education

Five SC schools received Blue Ribbon status this year, and two are here in the Lowcountry.

Buist Academy for Advanced Studies and Palmetto Scholars Academy were recognized.

College of CharlestonThe College of Charleston is not only the most beautiful campus in the US (as recognized by T+L) but has another great ranking. Best Computer Science Schools Digital ranked the Top 35 Best Schools for Big Data Degrees in 2017. CofC ranked #5!! 

The Department of Computer Science at the College of Charleston has opened a new facility for computer science students at the college’s Harbor Walk campus in the Aquarium Wharf area.

The Computer Science Innovation Center includes a rapid prototyping space, where students can gather to create and invent projects; a virtual reality room; a conference room; and a large collaboration space. Students can access technologies such as a 3-D scanner, a resin 3-D printer, a filament 3-D printer, a robotic arm, robotics builder kits, drones and virtual reality headsets, according to a news release.

African American Museum Gets Extra Funding

Shawn Jenkins and Mason Holland, co-founders of BenefitFocus Inc., one of the region's largest technology employers are pledging $500,000 to help fund the construction of Charleston's future International African American Museum.
