Cresswind at The Ponds offers the combination of a 55+ community with restricted access for children, with the "general" community at The Ponds which is not age-restricted. The following description was taken from Kolter Homes' website:

"Cresswind Charleston offers an unparalleled list of amenities right in your own backyard. A resident-only clubhouse features pickleball, tennis, resort-style pool, fitness center, demonstration kitchen, and more. The full-time Lifestyle Director keeps the social and event calendar full, and being located within The Ponds, you have over 1,000 acres of preserves to explore; lakes & ponds to fish and boat; over 20 miles of trails to hike; and canopies of ancient oaks to stroll.

The fabric of the The Ponds is overseen by The Ponds Conservancy. A not-for-profit community organization supported by KOLTERHOMES, The Ponds Conservancy has been created to enhance the quality of life and sense of community through educational programs, social events, cultural endeavors and environmental stewardship. In 2015, The Conservancy was a Historic Preservation Award recipient, recognized by The Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation with the Stewardship Award for the adaptive reuse and management of the historic Ponds farmhouse and grounds, and for hosting local cultural events on the property."

Like other large 55+ active adult communities, Cresswind at The Ponds has a lot of organized activities for its residents. Here's a video with the "Director of Lifestyle" for Cresswind at The Ponds:

Many residents of 55+ communities want to remain active. Many communities have tennis, pickleball, bocce and other outdoor activities. Check out the LIFESTYLE PAGE of Kolter Homes website for Cresswind at The Ponds

Alan Donald Pickleball TournamentNote on Pickleball: I play pickleball myself (this is a picture of my partner Doug Miller and I, when we got the silver medal at the Goose Creek Tournament in 2018, which we sponsored). After many years of playing tennis, I find that pickleball is a lot easier on my joints, and I enjoy it a lot! If you have any questions about pickleball in the Charleston SC area, feel free to contact me at alan@alandonald.com
