Monopoly’s “Charleston-style” Board Unveiled, Featuring Many Local Landmarks
Top Trumps, in collaboration with Hasbro, has finally unveiled the Charleston edition of Monopoly, featuring iconic local landmarks suggested by Lowcountry residents! Some of the selected locations include the Pineapple Fountain, Angel Oak tree, Rainbow Row, Isle of Palms, and notable institutions like the Charleston Library Society and Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. Charities such as Charleston Animal Society and Lowcountry Food Bank are also featured, adding a charitable aspect to the game. Volvo to Purchase South Carolina EV Battery Assembly Factory and More for $210M
Volvo Group has emerged as the winning bidder in the auction for the business and assets of Proterra Powered, a unit of Proterra Inc., which is currently undergoing voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy. For the purchase price of $210 million, the transaction includes assets such as a battery development center in California and an assembly factory in South Carolina. The deal is contingent on approval from the bankruptcy court, with the closing expected in early 2024, subject to merger clearance and other conditions. SC Receives $33M Federal Funding Boost for Agriculture Initiatives
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced investments in 185 projects across 37 states, including South Carolina, to expand markets for agricultural producers and strengthen food and agriculture supply chains. The initiative aims to create better economic opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs. The USDA is allocating over $33 million to support 18 projects in South Carolina include a $29.6 million loan for Agricultural Scientific LLC in Aiken, SC to develop a 35-acre tomato greenhouse in Hampton County, a $250,000 grant for Split Creek Farms LLC in Anderson, SC to process and market goat milk, a $250,000 grant for Manchester Farms Inc. in Richland County, SC to process and sell Halal Quail Eggs, and a $250,000 grant for Lowcountry Creamery LLC in Bowman, SC to expand sales of pasteurized and flavored milk in the region.
