Charleston Remains No. 1 Among Travelers and Retirees

Charleston is the No. 1 US city for the 9th year running among travelers who voted in Travel + Leisure magazine’s annual survey for its 2021 World’s Best Awards. It also ranked 18th on its list of cities across the globe. It’s no surprise that it earned these rankings for its culinary scene, beautiful architecture and historic charm. Read more here and here.

Plus, a recent study of over 180 US cities conducted by WalletHub found that Charleston is the No. 2 place to retire in 2021, led only by Orlando at No.1 and up one spot from last year. Charleston RiverDogs Win Minor League Baseball Title!

The Charleston RiverDogs, our hometown minor league baseball team, are the 2021 Low-A East Champions! This is their first title in franchise history and it is Charleston’s first minor league title since 1922. That’s almost 100 years! The RiverDogs won the first two games of the best-of-5 series only to lose the next two before clinching the final playoff game at home last month against the NC Down East Wood Ducks. Local Charleston Colleges and Universities Also Make the Ranks

The accolades keep coming from several authorities covering higher education, including The Princeton Review, US News & World Report and others! The Princeton Review has placed the College of Charleston on its list of the “Best 387 Colleges” for the 18th consecutive year. In its 2022 edition of “Best Colleges”, US News & World Report ranked The Citadel as the No. 1 Top Public University in the South for the 11th year running and as the No. 2 Top Southern University overall. It also ranked the College of Charleston in 9th place and Charleston Southern University in 57th place out of 138 schools on its list of Top Southern Universities. Read more here, here, and here.
