Bye, Bye Hominy Grill!  So Sad to See You Go!

Hominy Grill was one of the first restaurants we "experienced" when we moved to Charleston nearly 15 years ago.  Bet that's true for many newcomers.  It was also one of our "go to" restaurants when we had visitors.  Probably also true for many locals.  So we are very sad to see it go.  But we can certainly appreciate owner and James Beard Award-winning chef Robert Stehling's reasons.  Read more here ... and if you are looking for new restaurants to try, check out Eater Charleston's Spring 2019 list here.

Want to Learn to Code for Free?

The S.C. Department of Commerce’s Office of Innovation and Build Carolina officially launched SC Codes in mid-April. It's a statewide program that provides free access to online coding education – curriculum and mentoring – for all state residents interested in careers in technology as part of an effort to meet labor demands. According to Cyberstates, the industry is growing quickly, adding about 4,000 jobs in South Carolina in 2018, up from 2,500 in 2017.  In Charleston, with 300+ tech companies and 11k+ employees in 2018, according to the CRDA – the momentum of the growing IT/cybersecurity community supports all the region’s industries, from hospitality to defense to aerospace and automotive.  Read more here and here.
