SINGLE-USE PLASTICS BANS SPREADING ACROSS THE LOWCOUNTRY

The City of Charleston is the latest municipality in the Lowcountry (and largest in South Carolina) to approve a ban on the use of single-use plastics by local businesses.  

The City passed an ordinance on November 27th that will include plastic bags, straws and foam containers and will go into effect on January 1, 2020. It joins Folly Beach, the Isle of Palms, Mount Pleasant and Sullivan’s Island in the Charleston metro area and the Town of Hilton Head and Beaufort County to our south. Read more

 

NEW INTERNATIONAL AIR SERVICE COMES TO CHARLESTON!

The Charleston region is home to over 140 international businesses - think Volvo and Mercedes-Benz - but it has yet to attract a major company headquarters.  

One reason frequently cited is the lack of international flights in and out of Charleston International Airport (with an emphasis on the word “International”).  

We may soon succeed with the launch of British Airways service between the Lowcountry and London planned for the new year. Read more ....
