While 2016 was our second busiest year ever for Charleston Real Estate, 2017 has really started off with a bang.

January was the busiest January in history for Charleston real estate. Inventory is low and demand is very high, which could lead to prices going up even more. Currently, mean prices are still below the trend line going back to 1991, but that may change soon if inventory stays this low.

Stratton by the Sound in Mount PleasantFortunately, supply is likely to increase slightly, since many new construction builders are actively working all over the metro area. There are quite a few new neighborhoods under construction - including Ashton Woods' Stratton-by-the-Sound in Mount Pleasant and Pulte Homes' The Arbors in St. Johns Woods on Johns Island! The new I-26 exit near Jedburg for the new Volvo plant is almost finished, and Volvo has started taking job applications! The expansion of the Mercedez Benz minivan factory in Ladson is also under way.

Employees at Boeing just voted down membership to the International Machinist Union and the company recently rolled out their new 787-10 airplane with fanfare, including a presidential visit to the Charleston plant. The remodeling of the Charleston International Airport is finished and it’s looking great, it now includes  Caviar and Bananas, Golden Bear Grill, Charleston Beer Works, Harvest and Grounds and other restaurants and shops. Top Chef finally had its season in Charleston and it was a huge success. The culinary life is thriving here. At this rate, we may soon be BBQ capital of the US - there are many BBQ places here and they are all exceptional.
